    On April 18, the launching ceremony of the 36th weifang international kite festival&summit forum of crafts and folk art was held in Yangjiabu Grand FolkGarden. Some creative cities delegations from overseas, such as the republic of Korea, Bulgaria, Mexico, Denmark, Congo, Saudi Arabia, Iran and the Philippines, as well as representatives from China creative cities such as Beijing, Hangzhou, Suzhou, Jingdezhen, Qingdao and Macao, present the opening event.

Weifang is actively applying for the designation of UNESCO creative cities network that aims to promote the innovation and creativity of Weifang's traditional culture and presentits unique cultural charm to the world. The summit invited the creative cities’ delegations from eight foreigncountries and six domestic cities to share the successful experience in creative field.The global creative cities forgather in here to strengthen cultural exchange and cooperation between among of cities, and contribute tothe development of cultural diversity.

Cities delegates experienced the kite-making and watched the kite-flying performance in the Grand FolkGarden. Through the visiting of the vocational education base of intangible cultural heritage -- Weifang Special Education School for deaf-dumb--to observe the service mode which combines teaching, production and selling in one as well as create career pools for deaf and dumb people by teachingof traditional crafts. They also visit the Shiwun Garden and learn about the history and culture of weifang,as well aswitness the application and dissemination of handicraft and folk art in the people and community.
