In order to promote the inheritance and development of excellent traditional culture and create a positive, healthy and civilized cultural atmosphere, on the morning of November 9, sponsored by Weifang City Library and Weifang Cultural Center, Changyi City Culture, Press and Publication Bureau and Changyi City Cultural Center, there was held at Weifang City Library "Inheriting National Culture and Carrying Forward the Classics of Chinese Studies" - Li Zengfen's Paper-Cutting Exhibition. The exhibition will be held from November 9th to 24th.
Paper-cutting is a gem of folk art in China and one of the cultural symbols with the most distinctive Chinese characteristics. The paper-cutting exhibition is held to encourage the city's paper-cutting artists to continue to forge ahead, create and innovate, open up new styles in inheriting traditions, constantly climb the peak of art, and make greater contributions to the development of paper-cutting art.
In this exhibition, 118 pieces of Li Zengfen's paper-cut works were exhibited, including 94 series of paper-cutting works of Chinese and English bilingual “Disciple Gauge” (Standards for Students), and 24 series of paper-cutting works of "Twenty-four Stories of Filial Piety". Among them, the Chinese and English bilingual paper-cutting series of “Disciple Gauge” is the first of its kind in China.
Li Zengfen's paper-cutting works are novel in conception, exquisite in craftsmanship, and representative of the characteristics of the times. On the basis of traditional crafts, she has improved the monotonous paper-cutting mode, increased the types and patterns of paper-cutting, broken the tradition, made reform and innovation, and used traditional paper-cutting techniques combined with modern technology to create many works with distinct themes, strong depth of thought and artistic strength. New vitality has been injected into this folk art of paper-cutting.
