The 9th Session of China Painting Festival was hosted at Shandong-Taiwan Convention and Exhibition Center in Weifang, Shandong from April 19 to 23. Almost one hundred of quality works created by representative artists from The Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, Guangdong Art Institute and Guangzhou Art Institute including Li Jinkun, Guo Mangyuan, Fang Tu, Lin Lan, Cai Yonghua, Zheng Apai, Chen Yifeng, Pan Xiaoming and Song Lujing. These elegant but grand Lingnan calligraphy and painting works became the bright spot in this session.

Guo Mangyuan booth becomes an online sensation hot spot 80-year-old Lingnan freehand master, Guo Mangyuan, has attended under invitation China Painting Festival in Weifang for the third time this year. His booth was set in the most conspicuous position in the exhibition hall. His 22 freehand flower-bird brush works created in recent years were exhibited this time. The expansiveness and elegant and grand ink style reflected in his paintings has attracted many visitors. Some even whispered: Master in Lingnan freehand brush painting, amazing! Famous landscape painter Fang Xiang, made a special trip to see his booth. He told the reporter: Master Guo has extremely great traditional attainments and has been sticking to the traditional cultural context, which is worth deeply learning.
The reporter found out that Guo’s booth became an online sensation hot spot in this activity. It is located in the core zone of the exhibition hall, attracting much attention.
On the day of opening ceremony, media reporters from CCTV and Shandong TV all rushed to the site on hearing the news, and interviewed Master Guo.

Weifang “China Painting Festival” has become a phenomenal activity
The theme of the 9th Session of China Painting Festival is “Highlight Heart of Great Love, Present Art of Great Beauty”, and stays close to the theme of new era under the guidance of concepts of “high” and “new”. It closely adheres to the academic direction to highlight the characteristics of “precise”, “expertise” and “broadness”. The exhibition zone is generally divided into six major matrices, and composed of over thirty exhibition sites. Wherein, “Contemporary Institute Style·Time Spirit--Chinese Painting Exhibition” covers one third the exhibition area, and the exhibition has launched six plates of “New Time Style”, “New Time Track”, “Brilliant Time Chapter”, “Time Charm”, “Time Classics” and “Time Inheritance”, and further divided into twenty-eight special topics.
China Painting Festival is the first large-scaled art celebration activity under the name of “Chinese painting”, jointly hosted by Chinese Painting Institute, China Artists Association Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Steering Committee, Weifang Municipal People’s Government and other organizations. On the opening ceremony, President of China Artists Association and Head of Central Academy of Fine Arts, Fan Di’an sent congratulations. Vice President of China Federation of Literary and Art Circle, Honorary President of China Artists Association and Executive Vice President of Central Institute of Literature and History, Feng Yuan made a speech and declared the opening. Vice President of China Artists Association Yang Xiaoyang, President of Chinese Painting Institute Tian Liming, Vice President of China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, Vice President of China Artists Association and President of China Academy of Art Xu Jiang, former President of Chinese Painting Institute and Professor of Central Committee of Fine Arts Guo Yicong, former President of Chinese Painting Institute, Honorary President of China National Academy of Painting and Director of China Artists Association Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Steering Committee Ren Longrui and other masters in the art field attended the exhibition.
“Shandong Province leads calligraphy and painting in China, and Weifang City leads calligraphy and painting in Shandong”, this is a consensus reached in this field. It’s amazing that such a prefecture city as Weifang can create China Painting Festival a cultural phenomenon and industrial mode with nationwide influence, and the successful experience is worth studying and learning. China Painting Festival has attracted many artists, cultural institutes and art product operators all over the country to visit and learn experience.

Deputy Director of Management Committee of Yangcheng Evening News Group and Vice President of Yangcheng Evening News Office Li Yihang lead a group from Yangcheng Evening News Academy of Arts to Shandong Cable TV Art Gallery for communication promptly after visiting China Painting Festival in Weifang, trying to learn about the advanced experience in developing and systematically creating online products of art resources. “Lingnan artists represented by freehand master Guo Mangyuan have been drawing much attention during China Painting Festival, and it’s safe to exclaim that it’s the right moment for Lingnan calligraphy and painting!” Li Yihang exclaimed.

Born in Shantou, Guangdong, in 1942, he once learned from masters Chen Banxing, Zhao Yilu and Liang Liusheng. He is now a villager in Shuimo Village, member of Xiling Seal Engraver’s Society, member of Guangdong Provincial People’s Government Institute of Literature and History, art consultant of Guangzhou Art Institute, Honorary President of Guangdong Ethnic Chinese Academy of Calligraphy and Painting and consultant of China Finger Painting Institute.
