During Shanghai Cooperation Qingdao Summit in the last year, state-level artist and famous painter from Weifang, Liang Liansheng’s giant-size Chinese painting Lotus Reflecting Sunshine has deeply impressed people in the whole country and even in the world. On April 16, the reporter got to know that Liang Liansheng specially created a 106 square feet giant-size Chinese painting Spring Back for this session of China Painting Festival as a gift indicating blooming and prosperity. Besides, Liang Liansheng also brought over 30 quality works to China Painting Festival.

Warm-toned wisteria indicates propitious omen
The 106 square feet giant-size Chinese painting Spring Back is 5.5m long and 2.15m wide. The zigzagging wisteria on the painting brings great vitality out of the work.
The wisteria branches and trucks in Spring Back are zigzagging up with purple flowers in them, and flowering branches droop in bunches, integrated with old cirrus and flowers into a whole, showing the unique beauty of wisteria. Succinct cirrus and light-yellow buts reflect vigor of the old wisteria. The unique screen colors and far-reaching artistic conception are of great sense of beauty and impact force.
“Buds grow out only when wisteria booms, and leaves grow out only when flowers are about to wither.” Liang Liansheng said. The entire painting is expected to bring out the dynamics of wisteria winding and zigzagging, but not in a messy way. The stroke shall be firm and also fluent, and the ink colors are required to reflect the abundant changes of wisteria in prosperity and withering. The entire scene shall be an integral whole.
China Painting Festival was opened in April which is a good time with spring coming back, birds singing and flowers blooming. After receiving the invitation of the organization committee of China Painting Festival, Liang Liansheng decided to use “Spring Back” as the creation theme. “Besides wisteria, campsis grandiflora and mangnolia are also used in painting to reflect the spring flowering scene. Considering that wisteria has warm and bright colors and indicates prosperity and aspiring, it is used in this painting.” said Liang Liansheng. Conception of the work comes from sketching in his daily life, and generates from strict conception and art creation, hoping to shine in China Spring Festival.
Create two giant-size works for Shanghai Cooperation Qingdao Summit
The giant-size Chinese painting Lotus Reflecting Sunshine created by Liang Liansheng in the main venue of Shanghai Cooperation Qingdao Summit in last June attracted much attention. The work is about 17m long and 7m wide, showing the audience a full eye of green lotus with pink flowers intersperse and the lotus and flowers under the red sun shine with gold rays of light, just like the poetic conception “The lotus leaves, lotus flowers in red”.
Liang Liansheng told the reporter that he received the invitation from Qingdao Municipal People’s Government after the last Spring Festival, asking him to create two giant works for Qingdao Summit. One is a lotus painting which will be hung in Shanghe Hall in the main venue, and the other is a landscape painting of Laoshan Mountain which will be hung in the VIP hall at Qingdao Airport. He started to intently create after receiving the invitation.
Speaking of the originality of Lotus Reflecting Sunshine, Liang Liansheng expressed that lotus is always used as a metaphor to a gentleman “that grows in the silt but not imbrued”. Lotus is written as “荷” in Chinese, sharing the same pronunciation with Chinese characters “和” and “合” indicating peace, harmony and cooperation. Lotus appreciation indicates the promotion of Chinese “peace” culture. And creation of these sunshine-reflecting lotus also expresses his deep bless to our motherland.
The huge work Laoshan Wonder for the VIP hall at Qingdao Airport more reflects the local conditions and customs in Qingdao. Lotus Reflecting Sunshine and Laoshan Wonder were permanently collected by Qingdao Municipal People’s Government after Shanghai Cooperation Qingdao Summit.
Lotus Reflecting Sunshine has entered cameras of CCTV, Xinhua News Agency and other state-level media for many times during Shanghai Cooperation Qingdao Summit, and has been successively reprinted by media at home and abroad, thus making it the most popular work during Qingdao Summit. Liang Lianshen also got famous on this occasion.
Every return to hometown for exhibition is a report on art achievements
Liang Liansheng was born in Weifang and graduated from Shanghai Theater Academy Stage Design Department. He started to learn painting since 8, and has learned oil painting, gouache painting, watercolor painting and others, which has laid a solid foundation for learning of western painting. Currently, he has opened Liang Liansheng Art Museum in Qingdao and Weifang.
Besides, the large-size work Spring Back, Liang Liansheng also brought over 30 high-quality works to this session of China Painting Festival.
As a famous painter walking out of Weifang, Liang Liansheng is also an acquaintance to China Painting Festival. He has returned to his hometown with his works to attend China Painting Festival for many times, but in different moods every time. “Art is a part of my life, and painting is my favorite.” Liang Liansheng said. No matter how far I have gone, I always remember that I’m from Weifang. He is quite excited every time he returns for exhibition, and sees return to hometown as a report on art achievements, hoping to get supports from his fellow countrymen.
