37th Weifang International Kite Festival Kicked off

On September 26, Kite lovers and guests from all over the world gathered in Weifang Binhai district to celebrate the 37th Weifang International Kite Festival. Vice Governor Ji Binchang announced the opening; Former vice governor Zhao Runtian attended; Liu Beijian, vice President of The International Kite Federation and President of China Kite Association, Hui Xin 'an, secretary of the Municipal Party Committee and director of the Standing Committee of the Municipal People's Congress delivered speeches respectively. Weifang Mayor, Tian Qingying hosted the ceremony; City leaders, Su Like, Liu Yun, Zhang Xiaofeng, Sun Mingliang, Wang Shuhua attended.

At the process, a section of online "Kite festival " is set up for the participators who cannot come in personally due to the COVID-19. Nine sister cities of Weifang, like Japan Hyuga City, South Korea Anyang City and Poland Olshtine City, their Mayors respectively sent their video congratulations to Weifang, as well as the chairman of the Eu-China "the Belt and the Road" culture and tourism commission, Uyihai ishtwan did.

With 37 years of accumulation, inheritance and development, Weifang International Kite Festival has become a unique international cultural and sports event, a carrier to promote international exchanges and cooperation, and a stage to display urban civilization. As one of the "Top 10 festivals with the most international influence in China", The event gathered more than 1,100 kite lovers from 31 cities. The 51 teams from 45 countries participated the grand competition and interacted with the audiences through internet. Colorful 17 activities, including competitions, performances, exhibitions, trade and economic activities, were presented us more tasteful experiences.
