Although there were so many unanticipated things in 2020, we’d like still hug the new year with full of joy. Let’s warm up for 2021 by a exhibition of Chinese New Year Painting.   

 

New Year painting originated from the door painting, is a unique genre of painting in China, as early as the Qin and Han Dynasties, at Chinese New Year's Eve, people had painted some images of gods and tigers to drive away evils. In Weifang, there are not only Yangjiabu Woodblock New Year paintings, but also ancient and elegant Gaomi Ash New Year paintings and Linqu hand-painted New Year paintings...


 

On the morning of November 24th, the "Weifang New Year paintings Development and Innovation achievements exhibition" is kicked off in Weifang Art Museum, which is hosted by the Weifang Publicity Department and Weifang City Culture and Tourism Bureau .

 

Director of Weifang culture and tourism bureau, Tian Su-ying, ChanYingGui foundation secretary-general, Wang Yanmeng, professor of Shandong University of Art and Design, Yu Xinsheng, former Vice President of Weifang literary federation & artist association ex-chairman, Zhao Xiudao, Weifang institute of academy college of arts dean Wang Yong, Weifang gallery director & academies dean, Qiu Zhaofeng, and related experts, scholars, the directors of the intangible culture protection centers and the inheritors representative of Chinese New Year pictures and medium attended the opening ceremony. Li Yilong, a four-level researcher of Weifang Culture and Tourism Bureau, presided at the opening ceremony.
 

 

This exhibition is a comprehensive exhibition of New Year paintings in Weifang. It is the academic research exhibition on New Year paintings that has been held in Weifang since the founding of People’s Republic of China, with the most complete category, the highest academic value and the longest period.

Focusing on the display of Weifang traditional Chinese New Year paintings, innovative achievements after the founding of the People's Republic of China as well as the current inheritance and development. you will intuitively see weifang New Year paintings long historical heritage and profound creative accumulation as well as the current vigorous development of artistic vitality.

Until the beginning of September, more than 500 pieces of New Year paintings have been received with the active cooperation of all relevant institutions and individuals. After the review and selection of expert team, more than 300 pieces of fine works, which are about 200 pieces representative paintings in Qing Dynasty each period, and more than 100 pieces ancient version blocks, line blocks, as well as art derivatives, will be displayed in the exhibition
The exhibition is opening until December 2nd at 1st, 2nd and 3rd floor of Weifang Art Museum’s exhibition hall,Welcome to visit.
