To practice the spirit of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and strengthen exchanges and cooperation between cities, Weifang Culture and Tourism Bureau held Creative Cities join hands to fly creative dreams activity to share their best practices and achievement from April 16 to 18 , during the 38th Weifang International Kite Festival. A total of 26 people from 10 cities in 6 creative categories, including Shanghai, Changsha, Suzhou and Wuhan, came to participate in this activity.

The delegates have watched the 38th Weifang International Kite Festival opening ceremony performance, participated into the ten thousands people kites flying, visited the traditional craft - deaf school vocational education practice base, the popular science education base of China arts and crafts - Shihu Garden intangible space, the grand view folk park and Gaomi red sorghum town, etc. The city representatives fully appreciated the charm of Weifang handicraft art, and have applauded for the vigorous development of Weifang cultural and creative industry.

On the morning of April 18th, the forum of "Flying Creative Dreams" was held in Fuhua Hotel. Tian Suying, the Director of Weifang Culture and Tourism Bureau, delivered a speech and introduced Weifang's application for the UNESCO city of crafts and folk art. In addition to the creative city representatives to share their cities’ achievements, the forum also invited Kang Qingquan, vice president of China Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Association, and Wang Anliu, director of the Cultural and Creative Center of the National High-end Think Tank of Renmin University of China, to make keynote speeches. This forum is an important part of the whole activity, which builds a platform for communication and cooperation among creative cities and potential creative cities. Weifang took this valuable opportunity to learn from the famous experts in the field and representatives of creative cities, and strongly push strongly its creative city process.
