On June 30, 2022, Weifang was selected as one of "Top Ten Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Projects in Shandong Province in 2021" by Shandong Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism. This is the tenth consecutive years that Weifang has been awarded as one of the Top Ten Projects in Shandong Province. At the same time, Tuo Anli, the provincial representative inheritor of Longsheng pastry baker, was also rated as "Top Ten Model Inheritors in 2021" by the Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism.
In recent years, the City counts on Qilu Culture (Weifang) Ecological Preservation Area, give full play to the crafts and folk art resources advantages, vigorously promote the intangible cultural heritage inheritance developments, successfully built the solid foundation for being a UNESCO creative city, and strengthen the force to be "the Cultural City of East Asia" . Creative Cities Network was founded in 2004, the network is classified into seven fields of Crafts and folk arts, design, film, gastronomy, literature, media art and music,which is the one of UNESCO's three main systemic projects (the creative city network, the world cultural nature heritage project, human intangible culture heritage representative project). On November 8, 2021, UNESCO announced the list of new cities designated by the Network, Weifang successfully became an "Creative City of Crafts and Folk Arts", the fourth in China and the first city in northern of Yangtze River.
