The third session of "2023 Traditional Craft Education Public Class" (Qingzhou Shuttlecock, Nie Jiazhuang Clay Sculpture) jointly organized by Qilu Culture (Weifang) Ecological Reserve Service Center, Weifang Creative city of Crafts and Folk Art Promotion Office, Weifang Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Association and Weicheng District Women's Federation was taught on Saturday. A total of 40 students, parents and friends learned intangible cultural heritage knowledge and skills under the guidance of the inheritor teachers. This Saturday will open the fourth course, respectively for the old cat lantern and Weixian cloth toys, friends who are interested in participating in the public class are ready to sign up.

On Saturday morning, Qingzhou shuttlecock class, Qingzhou shuttlecock is a national intangible cultural heritage project, Teacher Li Hong explained the origin story of the shuttlecock and introduced the promotion and popularization of the shuttlecock in Qingzhou and even the whole country, and hoped that the youth will continue to develop and inherit the intangible cultural heritage. Afterwards, Mr Li introduced the steps and skills of making shuttlecock. After receiving the materials, the students began to make their own.





Under the guidance and help of the teacher, the students made their shuttlecock very soon. Afterwards, Teacher Li showed the play skills of Qingzhou shuttlecock and taught everyone the skills of kicking the shuttlecock. The students and their parents and friends actively participated in the exercise for the fun of sports.






 

Saturday afternoon class is Nie Jiazhuang clay sculpture, mud growl tiger . The biggest feature of the mud tiger comes from the sounds which come from a simple reed rod.

There are 10 traditional crafts classes in this summer session, which will last from July 15th to August 12th for five weekends. These course is free open to public. Except the tie-dye, dough sculpture, Weifang kite, woodcut New Year picture, Qingzhou shuttlecock, Nie Jia Zhuang clay sculpture, the traditional crafts courses with unique Weifang characteristics, such as old cat lanterns, Weixian cloth toys, leather carving and black pottery.

Schedule this week

This week's courses are old Cat Lanterns and Weixian cloth toys. The arrangement is as follows:Class venue: Research and Training Lecture Hall on the second floor of Intangible Cultural space, Shihu Garden Cultural Community.
